Most of our winter Texans have now returned north, though we do still have a good group left. We had over 80 at a nice Easter dinner of ham and turkey plus many other goodies provided by those who attended. See pictures here.

Most of the work on the stage in the hall is completed. The new wood flooring has been laid. The sides of the stage are done and all the trim. The cabinet that housed the audio equipment and the white pipe from the ceiling to the cabinet have been removed. The piano has been relocated to the floor to the west of the stage. A small extension to the west and rear of the stage has been constructed and the bingo machine rolls out on it. So we now have large clear stage. The power receptacles have been removed from the top of the stage and placed on the front edge. Also we have placed three microphone jacks along the front of the stage. Bill Ashburn, Leonard Williams, and Ron Foley have done a lot of work on the stage. See Picture.  Sharon Foley has been busy painting doors, trim, and the kitchen.

To the residents of Paradise South.
The Turbans for Cancer ladies made & distributed 437 turbans this year dispite having a couple of weeks off & running out of fabric. If anyone has polyester fabric in their stash of sewing supplies at home, we would very much appreciate you donating it to our cause. Also keep us in mind next season as our numbers are dwindling. We could use some new faces & people with machines to help us sew. It would be a shame to have to abandon this worthwhile cause. We had a few weeks that we had to cancel our session because of lack of help. This has been an ongoing project for a number of years. It is a good time to visit & get to know some of the others in the park.

A group gathered for a party at the pool on Sunday the 22nd. There are more people left in the park than I realized. The count at the party was 39, and we counted 20 more that did not attend. Now that I am writing this it is Tuesday and several more of our residents have left to journey back north to their homes. Ron & Sharon Foley furnished the hot dogs and buns and variousWe have added a new page to the web site to upload information about upcoming activities. 2005 – 2006 Season calendars November - December - January - February - List of special events - March

Today February 12th 2006 was the 50th Wedding celebration at the Recreation Hall for our honorees that were married in 1956. There were 8 couples that were joined in the hall by two more couples that arrived in the park to late to be included with the others. There was one couple that could not attend because of a death in the family. They were missed. The program consisted of a short skit by members of our park, that were comments that might have been made in 1956. Parts of Blue Skirt Waltz, Rock Around the Clock and You, You, You were played and two couples danced to them. MC, Evan Graham then introduced three of the Honorees, then Earl Ross sang “The Twelfth of Never, accompanied on the piano by Hilma Lamphere. Two more Honorees were introduced, followed by another song, “No Other Love” sang by Hilma Lamphere, accompanied on the piano by Reba Hawbaker. The rest of the Honorees were introduced, followed by Maxine Goshorn singing “Tell Me Why”. The program was completed with a Thank You from chairperson Lois Swain. The Honorees and guest then enjoyed cake and punch. Click here for pictures of the occasion.
